Being a long-obsolete
technology, the few paddle steamers still operating are
deliberate anachronisms, preserved for tourists or as museums.
Some paddle steamers still operate on the Mississippi River, as
do a couple in the United Kingdom. Now, Amazing Holidays proud
to present the Myanmar’s last remaining Paddle Steamer “Empress
Mani Sandar”. She will be restored to its original grandeur and
is once again offering tourist the chance to tour along the
Myanmar Rivers in late 2008. |

Paddle Steamer “ Empress
Mani Sandar ” began her life in the name of “Minthamee”
(meaning Princess) when delivered to Myanmar, then called Burma
from her builder, Yarrow of Glasgow in Scotland, one of six
arriving in the 1940s. |
